Tom Petty Posthumously Earns A New Billboard Chart Hit

YouTube, @Rockstar Games.

Over six years after his death, Tom Petty is still a hit on the charts.

Petty has scored a new Billboard chart hit, partially thanks to the “Grand Theft Auto” franchise.

The 1989 song “Love Is A Long Road” was used for the trailer for the upcoming “Grand Theft Auto VI.” Streams of the late rocker’s solo song reportedly jumped by 37 thousand percent on Spotify. This landed the song in the number seven spot on Billboard’s Rock Digital Song Sales chart.

“Love Is A Long Road” was the B-side to 1989’s hit “Free Fallin’.”
