Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich doesn’t get the respect he deserves.

At least that’s the opinion of Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, who says, “Lars has a really unorthodox way of playing. I think he’s a really creative drummer.” He adds, “I think the way that him and James Hetfield play together is so just in lock step. His drum fills are completely unique to the way Lars plays. I really dig the way Lars plays; he’s a great drummer.”

Apparently, Armstrong isn’t the only member of Green Day who appreciates Ulrich’s skin-pounding abilities. Tré Cool says, “His energy is infectious. He’s like a heavy metal Muppet.”
