Keith Richards has covered the Velvet Underground’s “I’m Waiting for the Man” for a new Lou Reed tribute album.

Richards shared the track on Friday, one day before what would have been Reed’s 82nd birthday on March 2nd.

He wrote “To me, Lou stood out.  The real deal!  Something important to American music and to ALL MUSIC!  I miss him and his dog.”

The track will appear on the upcoming album The Power of the Heart: A Tribute to Lou Reed – which features artists like Joan Jett, Rosanne Cash, and The Afghan Whigs.  It will be out April 20th.
