$160 million so far for Desert Trip Festival

A festival that has a line up from all star heaven is grossing a large amount of revenue, no surprise there. The star power that fuels the Desert Trip Festival has blown the competition out of the water. Yet the festival itself suffers from the same problem that most do: is it actually profitable after the smoke clears? The past few years has seen a decline in ticket sales when it comes to some big music events. The once beloved scenes that dawned some of the most hardcore fans around have disappeared for this reason, most notably and recent would be Mayhem Festival.

“As previously reported, the festival — set to take place over the weekends of Oct. 7-9 and 14-16 — boasts a lineup that includes the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Roger Waters and the Who. All that star power helped Desert Trip sell out in just a few hours — and rake in a ton of cash along the way.”
