Reeling in the Years

clapton salmon

Apparently Eric Clapton, one of the greatest musicians of all time, is just as good with a fly rod as he is with a guitar.

A guy named Gary Brooker (he was founder of the band Procol Harum) taught Clapton to fly fish. Eric’s neighbor explained to him that fly-fishing was different — it was a psychological victory over a fish. After teaching Clapton how to cast, Brooker knew he had hooked his friend on the sport.

That was over 40 years ago but now we’re getting word that Clapton, while on a fly-fishing trip to Iceland last week, landed a 28-pound salmon, setting the record for catching the biggest salmon of the summer.

It took Eric Clapton two and a half hours to reel it in!
