Green Day has released the first trailer and official movie poster for their upcoming coming-of-age road trip comedy, New Years Rev, directed by Lee Kirk. The film follows the fictional garage band The Analog Dogs, who set out on a chaotic cross-country journey to open for their idols, Green Day, only to discover the gig was an elaborate prank. “Coming soon: @newyearsrevmovie. The story of three young punks willing to risk it all to follow their dream,” Green Day wrote on Instagram. Set against a soundtrack featuring over a dozen Green Day songs – including the use of their 2004 anthem “Holiday” in the trailer – the film is described by the band as a tribute to “road trip movies, ’90s nostalgia, and chasing the dream no matter how ridiculous it gets.” The cast features Mason Thames, Mckenna Grace, Fred Armisen, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, and Bobby Lee, with Green Day co-producing the project. New Years Rev premieres September 12 at the Toronto International Film Festival. (Billboard)
