Mudvayne have released their first new song in 16 years, “Hurt People Hurt People,” which showcases the band’s signature industrial nu-metal sound propelled by heavy riffs and distorted vocals. “I think I wrote this song as a reminder to myself to break the cycle,” said frontman Chad Gray in a press release. “We create our own suffering, our own hurt. It’s time for us to create self-love and let go of the pain.” Mudvayne’s first new material since their 2009 self-titled album features the lineup of Gray, guitarist Greg Tribbett, bassist Ryan Martinie, and drummer Matthew McDonough, who will all hit the road on their fall co-headlining tour with Static-X. The trek celebrates the 25th anniversaries of Mudvayne’s L.D. 50 and Static-X’s Wisconsin Death Trip, and is set to kick off on September 11 in Dubuque, Iowa. (Consequence of Sound)
