A lost Led Zeppelin song named Sunshine Woman has been made available to stream.
The previously unreleased track was lifted from a session recorded for Alexis Korner’s World Service show in March 1969. According to the label, Atlantic, the original BBC tapes were lost, but a private recording was unearthed in the late 1990s.
The cut is from their upcoming release, The Complete BBC Sessions. It’s due out on September 16 and can be pre-ordered via Amazon.
According to The Guardian, Jimmy Page told Mojo: “There’s no point pretending this wasn’t recorded off the radio.”
He added: “The song was basically made up on the spot. It was pretty brave, bearing in mind the circumstances.
“We played it as if we were in rehearsals, starting it around the riff and then working it out. It shows that we were evolving pretty quickly.”
The court testimonies from frontman Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones, over the recent Led Zeppelin Stairway To Heaven plagiarism trial were recently released.
Plant has been confirmed as one of the guests for Rolling Stone ex Bill Wyman’s 80th birthday show at Bluesfest in London later this year.
