Shreveport Getting a New Food Bank

The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana broke ground today (Tuesday) on a new warehouse site.  The new facility at 265 Mt. Zion Road in Shreveport will consolidate two warehouses the food bank currently uses. The consolidation will decrease transportation costs while increasing warehouse capacity to house 17.5 million pounds of food. The new site will also provide more space for freezers and coolers.

The Shreveport food bank feeds 75,000 people each year with quality fruits, vegetables, and poultry.

This is important because one in five residents in northwest Louisiana is food insecure.

The new facility will be open by late fall of next year.
