Blood donations in the Arklatex, like every other region around this time, is running dangerously low on supply.  The holiday season is a time for people travelling, so we are not in town as much to take that time and donate blood.  Also, Lifeshare uses the schools a lot to replenish blood supplies, and when the schools are out on Christmas break it can cause a slow-down.  Lifeshare also does not take the blood straight to the hospital.  There is a lag time for the processing and testing to make sure it is safe, which can take upwards of two days.  If you have the time, please contact your local Lifeshare blood center, and you could help save a life as we celebrate the birth of a savior who sacrificed so much for us.
