Sometimes a mom can’t stop being a mom, even when her actions are illegal. Seventy-five-year-old Judy Futch of Arcadia was arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs to her imprisoned son by bringing them to a work site where his fellow prisoners were employed outside the gates of the prison. It’s important to note that the drug she was attempting to get into her son’s hands is suboxone, which is used to treat pain and treat addiction to other drugs. She is accused of bringing the drugs to an inmate in the hopes of them being delivered to him. They were intercepted by prison officials before they could make it that far, and Judy was arrested on one count of criminal conspiracy and one count of distributing a narcotic. Ouchita Correctional Center officials allege Judy’s son subsequently tested positive for suboxone and that both men will be charged with criminal conspiracy. Judy Futch is currently out of jail and awaiting trial.
