Lexington police continue to investigate after a man attacked another man with a machete Sunday night.

Police say the victim told them somebody knocked on the door of his Danielle Lane home around 10:30 p.m. He opened the door to find a man standing there holding a machete. Officers say the suspect hit the victim several times before running off. The victim suffered some cuts to his fingers, and EMS took him to the hospital for treatment.

Police say the motive for the attack remains unclear. The suspect did not take anything. Investigators say the victim told them he did not know the assailant, but said somebody was with the suspect that he recognized.
