Texas Fugitive Arrested After Chase

Police arrested a fugitive wanted in Texas after a 14 mile high-speed chase through Lexington early Wednesday morning. Police say a state trooper tried to pull over a blue Mitsubishi for minor traffic offenses along along Main Street, near Broadway, around 12:30 a.m., but the driver refused to stop. Officers say the car sped onto the outer loop of New Circle Road the wrong way, and the chase reached speeds upwards of 110 mph. The Mitsubishi exited onto Nicholasville Road and turned onto Larkin Road where police finally stopped the vehicle. Police arrested Eddie Perez, 19. Troopers say he was wanted on a Texas warrant for violation of a theft probation. He will also face charges in Kentucky, including fleeing police and wanton endangerment.
