A standoff in Madison County has ended peacefully after nine hours. A man, identified as 51-year-old Gene Charlton, barricaded himself inside a home with a woman and two children inside, according to officials. The barricade started around midnight at a home on East Haiti Road near Chestnut Street in Berea. At approximately 9:15 a.m., Charlton turned himself in after talking to police for several hours. Officials believe he is the father of the two children in the home. The two children and woman made it out of the house safely. Charlton will be booked in the Madison County Detention Center and charged with kidnapping and potentially other charges.
