DETROIT, MI – The first 2016 Cadillac CT6 to roll off the assembly line will be auctioned off Friday to raise funds for the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.
It’s part of the part of Barrett-Jackson’s 13th Annual Palm Beach Auction, in which a series of high-end and exotic cars will be up for grabs, such as a 2006 Ford GT with only 19 original miles and a completely restored 1929 Packard 626.
Based in Detroit, the Karmanos Cancer Institute is one of 41 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the U.S.
The Cadillac CT6 is a top-of-the-lineup luxury sedan from General Motors, unveiled last month in New York City. The Cadillac CT6 is one of eight all-new vehicles the Cadillac brand plans to launch by the end of the decade, as part of a $12 billion investment in product.
All proceeds from Friday’s auction of the CT6 will go toward expanding Karmanos’ intensive care unit and to help develop a 24-hour acute care clinic.
The GM Foundation also donated $500,000 earlier this year to the Karmanos center to help support cancer research, and last year auctioned off a Corvette Z06 to raise funds for the institute.
With the Detroit automaker’s philanthropic contributions to the center, the Karmanos Cancer Institute named of its laboratory floors the GM Foundation Cancer Research Floor.
