Term Limits and Financial Disclosure Reforms for State Office Holders to be on Michigan’s November Ballot

LANSING, May 11, 2022 ~ On this year’s November ballot, Michiganders will vote on State House and Senate term limits for the first time in three decades.

There was no debate in either chamber, and the Michigan House of Representatives and Senate gathered the two-thirds majority needed to get the proposal onto the ballot.

If you drive a car that’s 30 years old, chances are that it needs some maintenance and repair,” said former Michigan Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Rich Studley.

“We think this proposal is fair and balanced, and good public policy, and it’s an opportunity to vote ‘yes’ on improving state government.

Additionally, the initiative would require state-level office holders to submit annual financial disclosures; Michigan being one of two states that does not require lawmakers to file for financial disclosures.
