PROGRAMMING NOTE: The Michigan Gubernatorial debate airs live tonight, Thursday, October 13 at 7 p.m. on 760 WJR.
GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan, October 13, 2022 ~ Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Tudor Dixon are appearing together for the first time tonight, in the first of two debates leading up to November’s midterm election.
Dixon, a former conservative internet commentator who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has never held public office, and is still working to win the hearts and minds of voters, many of whom may be hearing her in tonight’s debate for the first time.

(CONTINUED) Whitmer and other Democrats have been airing ads for months, attacking Dixon for her views on issues such as abortion. The attacks have been mostly uncontested as Dixon has less funding to compete with the incumbent Governor’s multimillion-dollar campaign contributions.
“People are voting right now,” said WOOD-TV Political Reporter and tonight’s Gubernatorial Debate Moderator Rick Albin to 760 WJR’s Paul W. Smith. “1.5 million, more than that by now, absentee ballots have already been requested, so people are literally going to be sitting at home…making those decisions right now.”
