WASHINGTON DC, January 19, 2023 ~ Republicans in the House of Representatives have introduced the Stopping Home Office Work’s Unproductive Problems bill — or SHOW UP act — which would require federal agency workers to return to their offices, and reduce remote working options.
“For years, Americans have suffered from the federal government’s detrimental pandemic-era telework policies for federal bureaucrats,” said Kentucky Representative and Chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee James Comer, who introduced the bill.

(CONTINUED) “President Biden’s unnecessary expansion of telework crippled the ability of departments and agencies to fulfill their responsibilities and created cumbersome backlogs.”
According to members of the Committee, expanding remote work has led to increased delays in agencies such as the IRS, the State Department, and the Department of Veteran Affairs, making it more difficult to receive tax refunds, passports, veteran assistance, and more.
The presentation implies that returning to work is a priority for some House Republicans, though the bill is unlikely to pass through the Democrat-controlled Senate.
