NASHVILLE, TN, March 28, 2023 ~ A gunperson with two assault-style weapons and one handgun forcibly entered The Covenant Elementary School in Nashville Monday, killing three students and three adults.
The shooter, a 28-year-old transgender man with the given name of Audrey Elizabeth Hale, carried out what appeared to be a carefully planned attack, ending the lives of nine-year-old students Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, as well as school staffers Cynthia Peak, Katherine Koonce, and Mike Hill. Koonce was the facility’s head of school.

(CONTINUED) Nashville Police, who have been praised for their quick response and action in the incident, located and shot the suspect dead 14 minutes after the first call to 911.
Police say the gunperson, thought to be a former student of the school, left behind detailed maps and manifesto-like writings. A motive is still under investigation.
The Covenant attack is America’s 129th mass shooting in 2023, with the nation on course to achieve the most mass shootings ever in a single year.
