The Paul W. Smith Show and The Car Show are proud to be a part of this historical day for General Motors with the launch of the Chevrolet Volt.
Chevrolet Volt is the first mass-produced electric vehicle which can run up to 40 miles (64 kilometers) after a three-hour charge on a 240-volt outlet, or eight to nine hours when plugged into a 120-volt socket. When the battery runs out, an on-board gas engine will self-engage to generate electricity and power the vehicle’s electric drive motor for hundreds of additional miles.
To charge it, just plug the Volt into a standard electrical outlet, and it will be fully charged in about 10 hours, or in about 4 hours using a dedicated 240-volt line.
The state of the art dashboard has two LCD screens that display speed, battery power, range to recharge or refill, as well as an efficiency gauge that gives you real time feedback.
In addition, each Chevy Volt is equipped with the ability to store 30GB of audio data for music files. This feature will also allow you to stop and start a live radio broadcast. You can even record a program for up to 20 minutes, and play it later in the day. The Volt also features a USB port for your MP3 player or flash drive.
