MACKINAC ISLAND, MICHIGAN, May 31, 2022 ~ The Detroit Regional Chamber‘s 2022 Mackinac Policy Conference kicks off tomorrow on Mackinac Island, bringing Michigan‘s top business and civic leaders together to preview the future of the Great Lakes State.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg will be in attendance to deliver a keynote address, and host a joint press conference with Governor Whitmer.
The press conference will focus on the Governor’s infrastructure initiatives, including the “Build Michigan Together Plan,” the $4 billion “MI Clean Water Plan,” the $3.5 billion “Rebuilding Michigan Plan,” and the Governor’s expansion of Michigan’s high-speed internet network.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Secretary Buttigieg to the Mackinac Policy Conference. This is an incredible opportunity to highlight our effective collaboration with the US Department of Transportation, share best practices, and showcase the historic infrastructure investments we’re making in Michigan to fix the damn roads and bridges,” said Governor Whitmer in a press release.
In addition to the infrastructure topics, 760 WJR‘s Paul W. Smith will moderate the two-segment “Making Michigan More Competitive” panel, featuring the Detroit Regional Chamber President and CEO Sandy Baruah, Michigan Economic Development Corporation CEO Quentin Messer Jr., Huntington Bank‘s Sandy Pierce, and more.
