DETROIT, November 17, 2022 ~ Downtown Detroit launches into the holiday season Friday with the 19th Annual Detroit Tree Lighting in Campus Martius Park.
“Detroit’s Tree Lighting is a cherished tradition that always delights and brings holiday cheer to families across Michigan,”said Downtown Detroit Partnership CEO Eric Larson. “Campus Martius Park and Cadillac Square are two of the most festive places Downtown and we are proud to offer the community an opportunity to come together in these spaces for this quintessential holiday experience.”

(CONTINUED) In addition to the lighting of the 65-foot Michigan-grown Norway spruce, patrons can enjoy holiday shopping, live music, figure skating performances, and food trucks, as well as the ability to go ice skating and take horse-drawn carriage rides.
Only a few blocks away at Beacon Park, a children-centered tree lighting event is taking place, with a 20-foot Children’s Tree, and rides on a miniature train.
“The holiday tree lighting in Detroit has been a hallmark event for the DTE Foundation, and we’re proud to have supported it since day one,” said DTE Foundation President Lynette Dowler. “This year’s Light Up Beacon Park will feature a Toyland theme with larger-than-life installations and Detroit’s Children’s Tree decorated with handmade ornaments from local students. We can’t wait to kick off the holiday season and celebrate in the city together!”
Both events are free and open to the public, however more than 100,000 people are expected to be in attendance, so arriving early will be ensure you get a great spot.
