You may have heard Paul W. Smith and Stephen Piazza talk to Detroit Bikes founder and president Zak Pashak on Opportunity Detroit, now it seems he’s got some big news. According to Crain’s Detroit, the company will produce 2,415 custom-designed fat tire bikes for Colorado’s New Belgium Brewing Co. They make Fat Tire Amber Ale and the bikes will look like the ones on the label. They won’t be available to the public, but instead used for awards for employees and special events. The deals means about 10 new jobs for the factory on Detroit’s West Side. “New Belgium Brewing gets a quality product that’s made in the USA, and Detroit Bikes is able to partner with an outstanding company that shares our vision of encouraging cycling,” Pashak said in a statement Wednesday.
