RAY TOWNSHIP, MI — Clifford E. Gullion, a 32-year-old Detroit police officer who is on medical leave, has been charged with crimes related to a drive-by shooting in Macomb County. Gullion, who started with the Detroit Police Department in 2009 according to Detroit police, is accused of opening fire on a house in Ray Township near 29 Mile and Romeo Plank.
Macomb County Sheriff’s Lt. John Michalke says one of the residents who lives in the home is a patient of the Gullion’s wife, an in-home caretaker. Gullion retaliated based on a dispute his wife had with the patient’s husband, Michalke said. The firearm used in the attack was a .40-caliber gun, but Michalke couldn’t’ confirm if the firearm was issued by the Detroit Police Department.
Gullion is charged with two felony counts of weapons discharge at or in a building, a crime punishable by 10 years in prison; and two counts of felonious use of a firearm, a crime punishable by up to two years in prison.
