ROSEVILLE, MI — A 37-year-old Roseville woman walked out of her home and was grabbed from behind by a would-be carjacker with an Uzi about 5:40 a.m. Monday.
Roseville police say the woman’s vehicle, which has a remote starter, was already running.
“The suspect approached the victim from behind and grabbed her, placing one hand over the victim’s mouth and while holding a gun with his other hand,” Rroseville police said in a statement. “While holding the victim the suspect warned her not to yell out and demanded her purse and car keys.”
The victim gave up her purse and was able to wriggle free of his grasp, at which point she began to scream.
The man, later identified as 19-year-old Dietrich Sanders of Detroit, wanted for an outstanding weapons felony by the Detroit Police Department, got into the driver’s seat of the vehicle, but could not drive it because he didn’t have the ignition key.
