ETROIT, MI — Police shut down a portion of Warren Avenue on the city’s west side Wednesday night in an investigation of a suspicious package. Detroit police bomb squad vehicles were at the scene on Warren Avenue near Rutherford Street.
Police and firefighters on scene didn’t divulge the nature of the investigation. Detroit Police Sgt. Cassandra Lewis, a department spokesperson, said the incident appeared to be related to a suspicious package found in an alley.
Numerous police and fire vehicles blocked off the area to traffic and pedestrians for about an hour, but cleared the scene around 9:30 p.m. with no apparent ongoing threat. MORE
